Holding Credit Card Companies Accountable

In mid-March Susan Wones, a resident of Colorado, traveled to Washington, D.C., to tell lawmakers about her experience with the unfair practices of a credit card company.  In Susan’s case, her credit card company doubled her interest rate to 25 percent without notice and despite her record of paying her bills on time. Susan holds a high credit rating, has never exceeded her card’s limit, and has always paid the amount required.  She is a good customer who has been treated unfairly. Unfortunately, Susan’s story is not unusual.   More and more, responsible credit card customers are holding up their end of the bargain only to be hit with hidden penalties, astronomical interest rate increases, and shifting terms in their contracts. Congressman Udall is committed to fighting for the rights of Coloradans like Susan. He has introduced a bill that would eliminate some of these inequities and even the playing field for consumers.
